Botanical Laboratories, Ferndale, Wash., (360) 384-1140, is introducing Soothing Organic Throat Drops for cough and cold relief. With zinc and vitamin C to help support the immune system, they soothe and moisturize the throat. Available in lemon honey, cherry, and orange flavors, they are preservative- and gluten-free.




Adams Respiratory Therapeutics, Chester, N.J., (908) 879-1400, has purchased Delsym 12-Hour Cough Suppressant for adults, available in a 3-oz. size, and Delsym Children's 12-hour Cough Suppressant, available in 3- and 5-oz sizes. Delsym requires twice-daily dosing only, where other cough suppressants require up to six doses a day.

Omax-3 is a new Omega-3 fatty acid that its manufacturer, Cenestra Health, claims is 91% pure, with a medically formulated balance of EPA and DHA. Omax-3 lists among its potential health benefits a decrease in the risk of arrhythmias, lowering of triglyceride levels, slowing of atherosclerotic plaque growth, decrease in blood pressure, enhanced mood, improved cognition, and support for joint and skin health. Cenestra is based in New Haven, Conn., at (877) 879-2269.




Quebec-based Axcan Pharma, (800) 615-4393, is introducing two new products. AquADEKs Softgels, an antioxidant-enriched multivitamin and mineral supplement, was formulated to meet cystic fibrosis nutritional guidelines. They are said to safely and effectively increase plasma levels of fat-soluble nutrients and antioxidants and are enriched with vitamins D and K to enhance bone health. AquADEKs Pediatric Liquid is also antioxidant-enriched. This multivitamin and mineral supplement is also formulated according to cystic fibrosis guidelines, with antioxidants coenzyme Q10, gamma-tocopherol, and beta carotene.

Bausch & Lomb, Rochester, N.Y., (585) 338-6000, is promoting general eye health and nutrition with two new vitamin and mineral formulations. Ocuvite Adult and Ocuvite Adult 50+ supplements each contain omega-3 (100 mg and 150 mg, respectively) and lutein (2 mg and 6 mg, respectively) to enhance macular health. One soft gel daily also supplies vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, and copper. This dose is not to be exceeded without medical advice, the company cautions.

HEALTH/BEAUTY CARE

ProEFA Xtra is a capsule formulation of three fatty acids for supporting joint flexibility and immune health. Two capsules comprise the one serving that meets the American Heart Association recommendation of 1 gm of EPA and DHA for patients concerned with heart health. ProEFA Xtra is the product of Nordic Naturals, Watsonville, Calif., (831) 724-6600. It supplies 850 mg EPA and 220 mg DHA, two Omega-3 fats, and 257 mg GLA, an Omega-6 fat from borage oil.




BIC Consumer Products, Milford, Conn., (203) 783-2000, is launching the BIC Soleil shaver for women. The product carries a replaceable triple-blade cartridge refill, a moisture strip with aloe and shea butter, a rounded pivot head, a rubber guard bar, and a redesigned, easy-to-grip handle.

Los Angeles-based Herbalife International, (310) 410-9600, is adding several new products to its Skin Activator line of anti-aging skin care products. The formulations contain a glucosamine complex to firm, smooth, and hydrate the skin as it reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Included are Day Lotion with SPF 15, Decolletage Cream, Lip Refiner with SPF 15, Eye Cream, and Nighttime Replenishing Cream.
