Manufacturers are hurrying to introduce OTCs that have unique or enhanced formulations. Here's a roundup of the latest offerings:

Supplements and vitamins

  • From Wyeth Consumer Healthcare comes Centrum Cardio. The firm claims the multivitamin can lower cholesterol. Ingredients include folic acid, vitamins B6 and B12, and antioxidant vitamins C and E.



Wyeth is also premiering a new formula for its Centrum Multivitamin. The item contains more vitamin C and selenium to support the immune system as well as higher levels of vitamin C and vitamin E, and a new form of vitamin D as well as B vitamins.

Centrum Performance has also been reformulated to provide more absorbable forms of key nutrients. Centrum Silver for adults 50 plus contains more vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium to help support immune function.

  • Enzymatic Therapy is unveiling ActiFruit Cran-Max Cranberry Supplement. Available in soft chews and capsules, the product is formulated to support bladder and urinary tract health and to fight free radicals with antioxidants.
  • GlaxoSmithKline is making available FiberChoice fiber supplement plus multivitamins in a sugar-free cherry flavor formulation.
  • Joint Juice is unveiling its JointJuice dietary supplement, which contains 1500 mg of vegetable-derived glucosamine in each 8-oz can. It is available in tropical fruit and orange tangerine flavors.
  • Nutrition 21 is launching Core4Life Advanced Memory Formula, a dietary supplement intended to improve memory and recall, increase alertness and concentration, and help improve focus and vitality.

Skin care

  • L'Oréal is bringing out Skin Genesis, a multi-layer cell-strengthening skin care line that includes a daily moisturizer, oil-free lotion, and serum concentrate.

L'Oréal is also debuting Revitalift UV with Mexoryl SX (ecamsule) for UVA protection. The daily moisturizing cream with sunscreen has an SPF of 15. The firm claims the moisturizer's new sun filter provides exceptional protection against the UVA rays that cause skin damage year-round, even through windows and clouds.



For kids
  • Pfizer is launching Huggies Natural Care, a hypoallergenic line of products with aloe and vitamins. The lineup includes lotion, wash, washcloths, shampoo, and wipes.
  • Airborne is offering SquidSoap, a soap dispenser designed for teaching children healthy hand-washing habits.
  • Kaz is unveiling Vicks ComfortFlex Insight Thermometer and Vicks SpeedRead Thermometer with Fever Insight feature, a large display that changes color from green to yellow to red to help parents track a fever. Kaz is also debuting its Braun ThermoScan ExacTemp Ear Thermometer. The product measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissues.

  • McNeil Personal Products is releasing Visine Tears Lasting Relief lubricant eye drops for advanced dry eye relief.
  • Prestige Brands Holdings is unveiling Murine Earigate Ear Cleansing System. The item comes with a nozzle that fits in the ear and uses a reverse spray action to clean the ear canal without putting pressure on sensitive ear drums.
  • Carma Laboratories is offering is Carmax Lip Balm in cherry flavor. Available in a jar and a tube, it helps heal cold sores, fever blisters, and chapped lips.
  • Doris International now has larger-size Kushyfoot legwear with Kushyfoot massaging reflexology in three styles: Footcover, Ultra Low Cut footcover, and sheer Knee High.
  • Pillar Rock USA Corp. is rolling out Hangover Buster, an effervescent tablet to prevent hangover symptoms—nausea, headache, excessive thirst, muscle ache, and sensitivity to light and noise.
  • Confirm BioSciences is unveiling HairConfirm, a home-based hair-follicle multi-drug test kit that screens for illicit drugs.

  • Procter & Gamble is premiering Crest Pro-Health Night Toothpaste for a cleaner mouth in the morning, and Scope White Mouthwash in Mint Splash flavor for whiter teeth and fresher breath.
