$8 million in HGH found in Brooklyn pharmacy raid For the second time in five months, federal officials searched Lowen's Pharmacy in Brooklyn, N.Y., as part of the spiraling investigation by the Albany district attorney into on-line steroid and human growth hormone (HGH) sales through Signature Pharmacy in Florida. According to a report from ESPN, investigators found 90 gm of raw HGH, worth an estimated $8 million, as well as testosterone, nandrolone, and stanozolol. According to a report in the New York Times, the investigation also found that six New York City police officers had filled prescriptions for steroids at the pharmacy. In May, investigators found $200,000 worth of steroids and HGH. According to the report, a search of the office of Edward Latendre, Lowen's VP, revealed the Chinese-made HGH. Latendre was arrested on suspicion of criminal diversion. The arrest was not the first for Lowen's. In 2003, Julius Nasso, a Lowen's pharmacist turned movie producer, was convicted of conspiring with the mob to extort money from actor Steven Segal. Nasso's son, Julius Jr., is a part owner of Lowen's Pharmacy. To see more Hot off the Press news articles, click here.
