Bendamustine approved by FDA for chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Bendamustine (Treanda, Cephalon), given by intravenous infusion, has received FDA approval for the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) following a priority review by the agency. A nitrogen mustard, bendamustine has not established its efficacy relative to first-line agents other than chlorambucil.
