Reactions to the Proposed American Health Care Act

Analysts and columnists from the left and right have had time to react to the new healthcare replacement plan. What are they saying?

The proposed replacement for the Affordable Care Act (widely known as Obamacare) has been revealed and is taking hits from both the right and left of the political spectrum. The proposed plan, called the American Health Care Act and which has the support of President Donald J. Trump, would scrap the mandate that required most Americans to have health insurance in favor of a system of tax credits to push them toward buying health insurance on the open market. It would also roll back the expansion of Medicaid that helped people in 31 states obtain insurance.

On the right, conservative members of Congress are upset that the proposal is “Obamacare Lite” and that it does not go far enough. You can read more at Fox News and the Washington Post.

On the left, there are complaints that it is a giant tax cut for the rich and that millions of Americans will end up uninsured.
