Credentials issued by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy (CCGP) now total 1,500 pharmacists specializing in geriatric issues. The CCGP was established in 1997 to oversee standards in this area of pharmacy practice.

As of June 2009, it appears that North Carolina remains the only state to require any consistent public reporting of pharmacy-associated medication errors. In North Carolina, pharmacists must report errors associated with deaths.

Spurred by new, lower reimbursement rates, Walgreens, the largest pharmacy provider in Delaware, will stop filling Medicaid prescriptions in its Delaware Happy Harry's and Walgreens pharmacies and will no longer accept Delaware Medicaid as of July 6.
